MURAL: Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund

MURAL: Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund

Our current mural, on display from 11/16 to 12/31, features The Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund. The inspiration for the mural is the mission of DMSF and the Murphy Scholars they serve. The mural reflects their scholars' motivation, resiliency, and brightness, as they reach for the stars on their path to becoming the great adults they are meant to be. In this piece, we hope people are inspired by the power and potential of Chicago’s youth.

Being academically and socio-emotionally prepared to get to and through college has never been more critical than it is today. The Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund provides high school scholarships and educational support to Chicago students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.  DMSF is committed to providing a space where future leaders of our communities can access as many resources as possible to lead healthy, productive, and fulfilling lives.

Wintrust has been supporting DMSF for over a decade, sponsoring various events, providing volunteer support through their employees, and as of 2020, has been a banking partner. Wintrust staff is strongly represented within the organization, with Brad Schotanus and Mike King as members of the Board, Jack Murphy on their Associate Board, and the DMSF Co-Founder, Bob Murphy.

This season and November in particular, is a highly anticipated time for DMSF.  Giving Tuesday, November 29th, kicks off their year-end giving season. They are eager to make new connections and encourage donations of all sizes. Each contribution to DMSF helps provide equitable access to high-quality college preparatory education, essential leadership training, and valuable academic support to Murphy Scholars. We invite everyone to visit dmsf.org to learn more. Be sure to also connect with them on their social platforms to discover additional ways you can get involved and make an impact.
